Datil
It is said that the Datil chili pepper was brought, in the 18th century, from Menorca in the Mediterranean Sea to St. Augustine in Florida. The chili became well-known and praised in St. Augustine. There is even an annual festival, the “Datil Pepper Festival”. The Datil is as hot as an average Habanero, but taste fruitier and sweeter. The peppers are about 4 to 5 cm long and mature from green to yellow.
