This pepper is probably originated from the mountains in northern Mexico. Serrano means "from the plains or mountains”. The plant is between 50 and 150 cm. high. There can be 50 pods on one plant. The pods have a bullet-like shape and are about 6 cm long. The Serrano is hotter than the Jalapeno and they have hairy leaves. The pods start out with a light or dark green color and turn red when ripe.
